Center for Education and Civil Rights

Promoting racial equality in education through research and collaboration.

Education is the civil rights movement of our time.

Despite the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education case when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation in public schools is unconstitutional, racial segregation persists in our schools to this day.

CECR helps address inequality

Our schools and communities need to address the complicated nature of racial inequality in the 21st century. That's where CECR comes in. As a hub for generating knowledge and building coalitions within the education and civil rights communities, we can promote racial and ethnic equality in education.

In addition to collaborating with researchers, schools and policymakers, we provide the latest research and general resources to students, parents, and teachers who want to learn more about diversity and why integration in our schools matter.
