“The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America” by Richard Rothstein, Research Associate, Economic Policy Institute
This lecture and discussion was led by Richard Rothstein and featured his recently published book, which details how local, state, and federal policies led to a segregated America.
Mr. Rothstein is a research associate of the Economic Policy Institute and a fellow at the Thurgood Marshall Institute of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and of the Haas Institute at the University of California. The event began with an introduction by the new Dean of Penn State Law, Hari Osofsky.
Mr. Rothstein has been praised for his "brilliant" and "fine understanding of the machinery of government policy" by The Atlantic's Ta-Nehisi Coates. "The Color of Law" was reported by the LA Times as being among the ten finalists for the National Book Award in nonfiction. Copies of this book were available for purchase.
